About Sikkim Manipal University (SMU)
Few Words About SMU
Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical & Technological Sciences, Gangtok was incorporated under the State Legislative Act (Act IX of 1995) by the Government of Sikkim and is recognized by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the University Grants Commission.
The University is offering many Distance Education Programs as part of its effort to bring education to the masses and fulfill the growing demand of software and management professionals, with the help of Manipal Universal Learning, which is the Learning Resource Development Centre of the University (LRDC).
The courses include Master degree programs, Bachelor degree programs, Diplomas and Post Graduation Diplomas both in Information Technology and Management. The university is using a nation-wide network of student centres for various programs. This enables every student to choose a study centre that is easily accessible to him/her. College for Professional Studies is a learning center of SMU.
Accreditation
- SMU is recognized by UGC Govt. of India.
- SMU is recognized by Tribhuvan University and Kathmandu University, Nepal.
- The University is a member of Association of Commonwealth Universities, London (ACU).
- The University is a member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
- MOES has given permission to CPS to run various courses of SMU.
